Space Jane Contest

Help us redesign Space Jane for future use as a logo! 

Submissions open: October 3, 2026 to December 31, 2026
Winner announced: by January 31, 2027

Prize: If the chosen design is submitted by a current CGW member, they will receive a $350 Visa Gift Card. If the design is submitted by a non-member, they will receive a $300 Visa Gift Card and a one-year membership to CGW. This membership is not redeemable for cash. Submissions will be judged, and should a winner be chosen (and a new logo), it will be announced by CGW on social media and in Squeals! We reserve the right not to choose a winner, if none of the submissions are approved.

Terms: All submissions become the property of CGW to use in any and all formats once the contest ends. The winning artist will receive credit on the CGW and Costume College websites for their artwork, but will not be credited on every appearance of the image. CGW will have the right to copyright and/or trademark the image as they see fit. The image may be used everywhere we promote Costume College: included but not limited to; Costume College/CGW website, social media, registration/program books, other printed material, and promotional merchandise, etc. By submitting an image, the artist forfeits all rights and ownership of the image to Costumer’s Guild West, Inc. Artist will not receive any royalties or portions of proceeds generated from any sale of merchandise with the image.

The Space Jane image may be created using physical or digital media; however, it must be submitted digitally.

All digital artwork must be an original work created by the artist submitting. Image cannot be created with the use of generative AI. If generative AI is determined to have been used, the submission will be disqualified. Artists should be prepared to submit source files/workflow if requested. Please review our AI policy.

Space Jane artwork should include:

  • A single human figure dressed in historical clothing that has been modified to show that the wearer is in space. Example of preferred historical clothing: second bustle era circa 1884-1889.
  • No depictions of weapons. For our purposes, scissors will not be considered a weapon.
  • Simple line work with minimal shading, contouring, or stippling as the image is often resized to fit various needs and to keep a clear image.

*Bonus credit for images with moveable arms and/or legs (i.e. articulated vector files)

How to submit:

To enter please submit the following item via email to CGW President, at [email protected]:

  • Your name
  • A paragraph explaining your design and any elements you want to highlight (why these images in particular) - 500 words or less
  • 4 versions of the Logo (must be in vector file format, .eps or .ai):
    1. Single color (black)- square
    2. 2-color version (colors of your choice)- square
    3. Single color (black)- landscape
    4. 2-color version (colors of your choice)- landscape
