What is the DEI Committee?The DEI Committee is the committee that reviews Costumer's Guild West's policies, events, and event descriptions to ensure that no group feels excluded from our events. The goal of this Committee is to ensure that all participants feel equally welcome and encouraged to participate, have access to needed services, and learn about costuming. This Committee is chaired by the President of Costumer's Guild West. How do I volunteer to be a part of the Committee?If you are interested in joining the Committee, you can complete an application form here. How much time am I committing to as a part of the Committee? How often does the Committee meet?The Committee meets on a bi-monthly (every other month) basis, over Zoom. Your time commitment will be 1.5 hours per month on average, more during the spring, less during the winter. Outside of meetings there will be a few emails to review specific items. Committee membership overall is a one-year commitment, running over the course of the fiscal year, from October through September. What is my role as a part of the Committee? What may I be asked to do?The DEI Committee is responsible for reviewing (proofreading) CGW and Costume College written policies, event themes, and event descriptions, to ensure that all participants feel welcome and encouraged to join, participate, and bring their voices to our events. In addition, you may be asked to bring ideas and give suggestions about ways to improve CGW and Costume College, to create inclusive spaces, and opportunities to connect with diverse groups.
