Glove Making by Hand with Mela Hoyt-Heydon

Learn how to sew a glove by hand, including: how to insert a bolton thumb (tongue) into the gouch, how to attach fourchettes, and how to sew up a trank. How to do what?!? This glove terminology and more will be explained during the workshop and labeled on your pattern for reference. You will make a sample glove which will help you when creating gloves in the future. Mela will show you all the techniques and discuss working with various types of glove-making materials. 25 Spots Available!

Meet the instructor: Mela Hoyt-Heydon is a union Costume Designer who retired as Chairman of the Theatre Arts Department, Fullerton College in 2016 after 38 years & moved to Oregon in 2020. Her millinery shop, Atelier Mela, is open to the public, but primarily makes hats & costume props for the entertainment industry, her main client being Disney Imagineering. Mela is a founding member of both Costumer’s Guild West and Costume College, a past board member of the Costume Society of America and has designed for TV, film, theater, theme parks, cruise ships & music videos.
